Does anyone know of any spots to go within 8-10 hour drive? I like visting historic places as does my fiance' I also thought about renting a cabin somewhere but have no idea where to really start looking. I don't want to go to New Orleans or the Biloxi area. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

I have heard that Natchez, Mississippi is gorgeous with wonderful cabins to rent and house tours, and it is only about 2 hours.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee is gorgeous! It is about 10hrs from BR but the drive is worth it. The mountains are beautiful and there are many available private cabins for rent (most with hot tubs). You would probably enjoy the Smokey Mountain national park that is just a minute away from there. There is an old homestead set up in the park that shows how life was in the 1800's.
